Bibi Jagir Kaur thanks Canadian sangat for their support
Amritsar, June 5:
Twelve ventilators have been donated to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) by the sangat (devotees) in Canada in support of the services rendered by the SGPC during the COVID-19 pandemic.
These ventilators have been provided to SGPC through the motivation of Sikh MP in England Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi and Akali leader Sikander Singh Maluka, by the Canadian resident Gian Singh, Hardeep Singh, Satwant Singh, Pradeep Singh, and Sukhjeevan Singh with support of the sangat.
After receiving the ventilators at the SGPC office on Saturday, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the Sikh body has always been ready to serve humanity in accordance with the principles laid down by the Gurus.
“Even during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the SGPC has rendered great services under which free vaccination drive to fight the disease as well as Covid care centres have been set up for the treatment of patients. SGPC has set up 10 Covid care centres and is organizing free vaccination camps for the people without any discrimination”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
She said the first free vaccine camp was organised outside Sri Harmandar Sahib, in which about 1,000 people were vaccinated.
Bibi Jagir Kaur, “The second camp has been set up at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabho in Bathinda from June 4 and the third camp will be set up at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib on June 9.”
She said the sangat has been very supportive in these services.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “Many patients need ventilators and under our preparation for the suspected third wave of COVID-19, we had appealed to the sangat to support SGPC with ventilators. The sangat has started contributing in these services while praising the work of the SGPC.”
She said SGPC’s executive committee member Ajmer Singh Khera’s son would also be sending ventilators from abroad soon.
SGPC president thanked the Canadian sangat for their support.
Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur handed over these ventilators to Sri Guru Ramdas Medical College officials for the treatment of patients.
